Previous: What's wrong with a first heart attack?
Heart has two sides, where each side works as a separate pump. Each side is further divided into two rooms, so in total there are 4 rooms. Two of the above, the atrium , serves as a place to accommodate, two below, the ventricles , contract to pump blood.
The right side of the heart receives blood from the entire body through veins and pumping oxygen to the lungs to pick up. The left side of the heart to accommodate the blood back from the lungs and pumps throughout the body that require oxygen.
To be able to reach all the muscles and organs are different, the blood must be pumped at high pressure. Hence, when a blood vessel is cut off, then the blood will gush directly.
To do all this, the heart must be very strong, and not like any other muscle, the heart never tired. Therefore,
the heart muscle requires a very good blood supply, and this is
provided by the coronary artery and its branches earlier.
Coronary artery has the same structure as the other arteries, but differ
in one respect - only blood can flow through these vessels into the
heart muscle between heart beats, when the heart is resting (relax).
When the heart muscle to contract, the pressure is so hard to be able to allow the blood to enter into the heart muscle. This
means that the heart requires an efficient network of small blood
vessels in the heart muscle to get the blood where it is needed.
In disease coronary heart (CHD), coronary artery becomes narrow, and the heart muscle is deprived of blood and oxygen needed. In
the resting state, this may not be a problem, but if the heart tries to
work harder than normal - for example if you go up the stairs -
coronary arteries may not be able to survive in oxygen demand, and you
get pain in the chest.
If you rest, generally pain will disappear. If a coronary artery completely closed (block) by a blood clot, then the area of the heart muscle supplied will die.
